Bonzala is an excellent freeware game that proved difficult for me to walk away from. Though they're really dissimilar, the program is slightly reminiscent of the old Sonic the Hedgehog game. It features immersive 3D environments, where you fly around and achieve your goal before time runs out. The program even randomly generates levels, so you'll never get bored with the action.
The download includes four well-developed theme levels, and the game can be configured to accept up to four players. In fact, its multi-player capabilities include options for split-screen and multiple monitor gameplay. The program is designed for faster systems with 3D accelerator cards, though it's configurable to accommodate slower CPUs. You can toggle many graphical options such as fog, background and more.
As Flint, your job is to collect all of the hearts from the greedy Gelpers. While agile, you can only fly across limited tracks. As you slip and slide across a level, you'll reach many dead ends. To reach the other side, you must send Flint over the spinning discs. Using the directional control keys, you can move the swing bridges and swoop in to grab additional hearts. Be careful to avoid the sluggish Gelpers, because hitting them will cause you to lose the booty.
