Xitami is well-designed and highly capable server software, which so happens to be free. The program offers extensive support for the HTTP, FTP, CGI, SSI protocols as
well as server-side image maps, user-defined MIME types, multi-document roots and much more. Xitami is powerful, but it's so easy to use that it can run right after
installation. Further, the server can operate in all kinds of networking environments, thanks to a dynamic DNS client for using most DDNS services. Xitami's multi-threaded
engine leaves a small footprint, and should work very well on fast and slow systems alike. Xitami allows you to fully customize your system's presence on the Internet or
an internal Intranet. Using the program's Web-based administration dialog, you can configure your server from virtually anywhere. You'll be able to manage document
directories, list sort orders and default HTML pages. In addition, you can set a maximum number of HTTP connections, and limit Keep-Alive connections to a certain
number of requests. Xitami offers customizable error messages, file filtering and more. Xitami is also designed to be secure, allowing you to set up user authentication per
directory and IP restricted access. Individual FTP users may be granted specific access rights, and you can manage users and passwords virtually on-the-fly.
