Größere Downloads oder längeres Verweilen auf einer Homepage werden von einigen Providern (z.B. T-Online) schlicht dadurch verhindert, dass diese die Verbindung nach z. B. nur 15 min wegen angeblicher "Inaktivität" trennen. Ab sofort sorgt die "Flatrate Steckdose" dafür, dass die Verbindung auch dann nicht abgebrochen wird wenn einige Zeit nicht aktiv in einem der Browserfenster gearbeitet wird. Für Modem und DSL Verbindungen geeignet.
